Epic

Best communication innovation in years. Cant recommend it enough.

Terrific

My only wish is that switching between teams was a little easier (particularly, but not exclusively, when two or more teams start with the same letter). Otherwise, fan-bleeping-tastic. If I never have to navigate another email chain or convoluted collection of msn messenger windows, Ill be a very happy camper.

It took them well over three years to come out with threading, and they couldnt even do that right.

Sure, there are a couple of other neat features Slack has, but when communicating and collaborating across a large team, threads are essential. I was optimistic when I heard that they would be adding threading capabilities to their product, but after using it in action, Im sad to say that it severely falls short of expectations. Replies to messages are hidden away, and offer no visibility in its main thread, unless you intentionally go back to the original message. Furthermore, notifications for thread replies are remiss; Slack seems to think that nobody else in the channel cares about seeing replies to messages, so it doesnt notify for replies (unless you get @tagged), which is sorely incorrect. Slack reportedly spent a lot of time "rethinking" a solution to a problem that has been already solved effectively countless times over by others. However, this feature missed the mark almost entirely. Just copy someone like Flowdocks implementation. All in all, this a grave disappointment. I severely hope that they revisit their revisitation and "get it right" for real.

Love it!!

Im a huge fan of slack. Keeps my team and I on the same page...or channel ;)

Great Ap

Great app for team communication with lots of third party addons support

Changed the way we work

Amazing tool and still evolving.this thing has changed the way my team comes together.

Really Good Collaboration Tool

Fast, efficient, good way to organize collaborative discussion while minimizing distracting off-topic chatter, which helps not only stay on topic, but actually encourages using the communication threads. Itll always help to have a good facilitator to set up the individual conversation threads, of course. Also the alert snoozing function integrated in the app allows to have timing semi-independent from each users phones do-not-disturb timing. Very well-thought out app. A keeper.

Bad version

Problem with push notifications and a lot of bugs in connection.

Speedy new features

Things load faster on this version. Or maybe its just me being more patient.

Fast and beautiful

Its clear that the people who built this thing put a lot of thought and care into making the user experience an enjoyable one.

App keeps crashing

I usually love this app but the latest version has it freezing and then totally crashing repeatedly.

Wonderful Chat Platform

I dont think I have ever found a better chat platform for business use. Ten out of ten would recommend.

Excellent chat app

The Slack app works very well and makes it easy to collaborate with the teams I am part of.

Excessively complicated

Sure makes a mess of information, channels, PMs, etc Wouldnt be my first choice for communication

Barely usable

Slack is generally quite good from a web browser. The iOS client on the other hand is extremely buggy, and with each release, it seems to get worse and worse. I am using an iPhone 6, so theres very little in the way of hardware/bitrot excuses. There are tonnes of graphical glitches and broken features, for example: * Reactions sometimes work, sometimes they disappear. * The keyboard gets stuck rendering half the screen empty (amusing to see iOS clipping code in action) * With the half-baked addition of threads, a lot of things break further. Why can I "start a thread" on an image (which silently doesnt do anything), whereas on the web browser it shows up as "leave a comment"? * Slack for iOS seems to be whimsical and flakey in registering messages as being unread, or read. I enjoy using slack, just not on iOS. I give it one star because Slack is good, and one because at least the app sort of works some of the time. Enough that its still installed. If that meets the Slack developers expectations, congratulations to team mediocre! :disappointed:

Good app to help form a community with.

The next evolution of those old IRC rooms we grew up with. Easy to use, easy to add people. Only thing that could be better is to offer the same functionality as the Windows desktop app, and let users switch accounts on the fly (I have three different Slack accounts on the go). Beyond that, it does what I need. Nice job, Slack!

Amazing app, so convenient to be able to connect with people instantly
