It took them well over three years to come out with threading, and they couldnt even do that right.
Sure, there are a couple of other neat features Slack has, but when communicating and collaborating across a large team, threads are essential. I was optimistic when I heard that they would be adding threading capabilities to their product, but after using it in action, Im sad to say that it severely falls short of expectations. Replies to messages are hidden away, and offer no visibility in its main thread, unless you intentionally go back to the original message. Furthermore, notifications for thread replies are remiss; Slack seems to think that nobody else in the channel cares about seeing replies to messages, so it doesnt notify for replies (unless you get @tagged), which is sorely incorrect.
Slack reportedly spent a lot of time "rethinking" a solution to a problem that has been already solved effectively countless times over by others. However, this feature missed the mark almost entirely. Just copy someone like Flowdocks implementation.
All in all, this a grave disappointment. I severely hope that they revisit their revisitation and "get it right" for real.
